Pamela Kay Newsome

June 5, 1973 — February 26, 2021

Abingdon, Va. – Pamela Kay Newsome, loving wife, devoted mother, sister, and daughter passed away on February 26, 2021, at age 47.

“Pam” was born June 5, 1973, in Richlands, Virginia, to Alonzo and Patsy Cook. Pam married her Grundy Senior High School sweetheart, Russell Newsome, and they had one son, Joshua Andrew Newsome.

Pam’s greatest passion was her faith in Christ and her devotion to her family. She was a faithful member of Macedonia Church of Christ; her favorite book was the Bible. Pam enjoyed being a homemaker. She loved to cook and experiment with new recipes; she loved to decorate and plan family events. She loved summers on the lake.

Pam’s greatest attribute was her faith! She fought a long battle with diabetes most of her life, but she refused to let her sickness define her. All the way up to her homegoing, she had faith in her Savior, not only for herself, but also for others. She is known for her beautiful smile and infectious laugh.

Pam was preceded in death by her father, Alonzo Cook; father-in-law, Trussel Newsome; mother-in-law, Louise Newsome; and special niece and nephew, Kyle and Kylee Cook.

She is survived by her husband, Russell Newsome; mother, Patsy Cook; son, Joshua Newsome; brothers, Randy Justus and wife Robin, and Shaun Cook, both of Bristol; sister, Sherry Curtis and husband Jeff of Bristol; nephews and nieces, Brandon Curtis, Cody Justus, Kaitlin Ragan and husband Josh, and Raelyn Cook; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 2, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, at Macedonia Church of Christ. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon, with Bro. Ron Musick officiating. A committal service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Greenhills Memory Gardens. The men of Macedonia Church of Christ will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Covid-19 guidelines will be followed, which includes wearing of masks, social distancing, and adherence to occupancy rules.

The family extend a special thanks to Ron Musick and the Brothers and Sisters in Christ of Macedonia Church of Christ.
