Paul R. Harris, 82, of Abingdon died on Friday, June 24, 2011 at Johnson City Medical Center.
Born in Nolansburg, KY to the late Joseph R. Harris and Hannah Metcalf Harris. He was a retired coal miner and he attended Abingdon First Assembly of God.
Survivors include his son, Dwain Harris of Belfry, KY; his daughters, Patricia Harris of Abingdon, VA, and Anita Desjardins of Clearwater FL; his grandsons, Nick Harris of Trinity, NC, Sean Desjardins of Montreal, Canada, and Rhett Harris of Charleston, WV.
At the request of Paul, a private funeral service for family members was conducted at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, June 26, 2011 with his nephew Tommy Metcalf officiating and the eulogy provided by Debbie Creech, in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA. Burial was held in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with military honors being rendered by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard.
The family has asked that those wishing to honor Paul's memory to please make donations to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301
