Paul Wayne Worley, Sr.

Paul Wayne Worley, Sr. was born on May 13, 1948, in Washington County, Virginia, and he passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, in Abingdon, Virginia. Paul dedicated over 30 years of his life to driving a school bus for the Washington County School system, where he became a familiar and beloved figure in the community. His kind and welcoming nature made him a favorite among students and parents alike, embodying a spirit that made others feel at ease. Known for his great sense of humor, Paul brightened the days of those who were fortunate enough to cross his path.

Paul attended John S. Battle High School in Bristol, VA. He not only pursued a career that impacted many young lives, but he also engaged in various interests that brought him joy. Paul was a charter member of the Washington County Moose Lodge and found pleasure in watching NASCAR races and riding motorcycles with friends. Family was particularly important to him, and he cherished spending time spoiling his grandchildren and his beloved dog, Lady.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Harmon Glenn Worley and Fannie Mildred McCroskey Worley and his loving wife of 58 years, Dorothy Arden Worley.

Paul is survived by his daughter, Cyndi Berndt (Dan); sons, Paul Worley, Jr. (Malinda) and Travis Worley (Linda); grandchildren, April Worley, Ashton Worley, Luke Worley, and Charlee Worley; as well as his great-grandchildren Mason and Abbie. He is also remembered by his beloved sister Dellene Eades and sisters-in-law Denise Arden and Michelle Reynolds, along with several nieces and nephews who will carry forward the fond memories of a man who touched their lives in countless ways.

A graveside service to honor Paul's life will take place on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 2 pm, at Serenity Chapel Mausoleum, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, Virginia, with Pastor Gary Breeding officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Martin "June" Roark, Jr., Kenny Wheeler, Rick Roe, Bobby Ratliff and his friends at the Moose Lodge. Paul's legacy of kindness, humor, and dedication to family and community will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
