Pauline Compton McClanahan

Abingdon, VA - Pauline Compton McClanahan, age 97, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 14, 2026, in Johnston Memorial Hospital. Pauline was born in Grundy, VA to the late Worley and Gusta Clevinger Compton. She and her late husband, Virgil McClanahan, moved to Abingdon in the mid 1970’s. Pauline enjoyed spending time at the lake and dining out. She was a member of Green Springs Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, Pauline was preceded in death by three siblings, Edith C. Looney, Nell Newberry Matney, and Roby Compton. She is survived by nieces and nephews Teresa Johnson and husband Mark of Keen Mountain, VA, Deborah Rattyz of Fredericksburg, VA, Jennifer Parish and husband Bill of Abingdon, VA, Denise Marcum and husband Pete of Abingdon, VA; brother-in-law, Kyle McClanahan and wife Sue of Grundy, VA; and several great nieces and nephews who she dearly loved.

Cryptside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2026, in Knollkreg Memorial Park Mausoleum. Rev. Bill Parish will officiate.
