Peggy Davidson DeBord

January 5, 1940 — May 26, 2026

Saltville, VA

Saltville, VA – Peggy Joyce Davidson DeBord, age 86, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Abingdon Health and Rehab Center. Peggy was born on January 5, 1940, to the late John Harrison Davidson and Kansas Smith Davidson. She often spoke of her love and respect for her parents.

Peggy was a beautiful person inside and out and a wonderful Christian who proclaimed eloquent and meaningful prayers for anyone who needed them. She was a hard worker, sometimes working two jobs, and was deeply devoted to her family. Her family and friends will remember her for her singing, cooking, late night bowling sessions, setting with great grandchildren during remote learning during the pandemic, playing Rook until 4:00 a.m., teaching her grandchildren to read, shopping and playing Yahtzee with her daughters, her numerous positive comments on Facebook, and sitting on her front porch talking to friends and neighbors.

Peggy enjoyed singing with her family and encouraged others to do so and pursue their musical talents. She would often sing at church, the Ruritan Club, and family functions. In addition, she enjoyed playing the piano, accordion, and dancing.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, William E. “Bill” DeBord; son, Steve DeBord; two brothers, Ronnie Davidson and John “Butch” Davidson; infant sister, Judy Layne Davidson; infant great granddaughter, Ryleigh Emerson Arnold; nephew, Darren Davidson; niece, Sandra Chapman Walton; step father, Charles Ernest; and daughter-in-law, Kim DeBord, all whom she loved dearly.

She is survived by her daughters, Janey Arnold and husband Stanley, and Lisa Whitt and husband Gary; six grandchildren, Crystal McKemy and husband Jimmy, Gerald Arnold, Jessie Whitt and wife Kerri, Stephen DeBord, John DeBord, and Suzanne Street and husband Matt; sister, Dolly Carter and husband Robert; brother, Dan Davidson and wife Shirley; great grandchildren, Tyler Arnold, Ethan DeBord Landell, Hailey Arnold, Noel McKemy, Aaron DeBord, Remington Griffey, Chase McKemy, Rheagan Griffey, Rowan Whitt, Layla Street, and Laveah Street; one great-great granddaughter, Cairo Landell; uncle, Joe Smith and wife Joan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who she loved dearly.
