Peggy Lester Robinson

Peggy Lester Robinson, age 82, a lifelong resident of Washington County, Virginia passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 26, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Peggy was born in Lodi on December 31, 1939. She, along with her twin, Betty, was the last of 14 children born to the late Elizabeth Vene Stovall Lester and John Carson Lester.

Peggy attended Liberty Hall High School and the Johnston Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She married the late John Randolph Robinson II in 1961, and they began their family in Glade Spring. Peggy was an active member of Old Glade Spring Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir for over 50 years, was a member of the Altar Guild, Circle #3, and her Women’s Sunday School Class. She had been a member of the Glade Spring Book Lover’s Club for 35 years and enjoyed entertaining and volunteering. Peggy was an instrumental member of the Library Committee which funded the new Glade Spring Branch of the Washington County Library.

She and her husband had enjoyed traveling for many years, and she and her daughter traveled in more recent years.

A dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Peggy loved nothing more than being with her family. Her last day full day on Earth was spent enjoying Christmas, attending church, and serving a signature delicious, meal while spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her son, Joseph Robinson, six sisters, and five brothers. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Trish Robinson Capparelli and husband Mike, of Sykesville, MD, and her loyal son Jay Robinson and his wife Anita of Glade Spring. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Kelsey Capparelli Diehl and husband Jon of Laurel, MD, Michael Capparelli and wife, Lauren, of New York, NY. Grey Robinson of Carlsbad, NM, Mahlon Robinson of Johnstown, CO, and Catie Robinson, of Glade Spring. She also leaves her sweet baby great granddaughter, Mackenzie Diehl. She is also survived by her twin, Betty Cline of Abingdon and her brother, Ted Lester and his wife Liz, of Meadowview.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Old Glade Spring Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Timothy Bird officiating.  Visitation with the family will take place before the service at 11 am at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery, where nephews will serve as pallbearers.
