Richard Joshua Eastridge, Sr., passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on February 9, 1942, in Abingdon, VA, Richard lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and a deep love for the mountains.
A rugged mountain man at heart, Richard devoted many years of his life to serving as a logger, a role that mirrored his strong connection to the land and nature. His tenacity and work ethic earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and friends alike. In addition to his work in logging, Richard proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Vietnam Veteran, a testament to his bravery and commitment to his country.
Richard was not only defined by his work but also by his passion for coon hunting, a hobby that delighted him and brought him closer to loved ones who shared in those adventures.
He is survived by his son, Richard Joshua Eastridge, Jr. and wife Beverly; his sister, Peggy Sue (Archie) Baldwin; and several nieces and nephews who will fondly remember him.
Richard joins his beloved wife, Wanda Faye Maiden, in eternal rest. He is also preceded in death by his parents, LaForest and Ellen Casey Eastridge, and siblings Helen Moore, Mary Campbell, and Wiley Eastridge. Richard will be missed by his loyal dog, Peanut. The memories of Richard Joshua Eastridge, Sr. will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
At Mr. Eastridge’s request, a private interment will be held in Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
