Richard H. Eldreth Sr.

Saltville, VA - Richard H. Eldreth Sr., age 83, passed away peacefully at home on September 27^th, 2022, with his family by his side. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from Washington County Virginia Sheriff’s Department after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Abingdon Civitan’s Club and was a member of the Lindell Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Marvie Eldreth, father and mother-in-law, Bill and Helen Smith, son Richard H. Eldreth Jr., brothers Wayne, Ron, Don and Bill Eldreth, son-in-law Clark Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Christine Eldreth, daughter Carla Williams, brother Bob Eldreth (Janice), sister Diana (Jimmy) Keene, sisters-in-law Velma Eldreth and Jan Eldreth, sister-in-law Gerldine (Larry) Franklin, brother-in-law Billy (Catherine) Smith, grandchildren Travis Farmer, Heather (Bradley) Widener, Courtney (Josh) Reynolds, Jem Williams, Jordan Eldreth, and Connor Eldreth; six great grandchildren, Christine and Owen Farmer, Caleb Widener, Sophie, Sawyer and Scarlett Reynolds.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 30, 2022, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the Kestner Eldreth Cemetery, Poore Valley Road, Saltville, VA.
