Abingdon, Va. – Robert Lee Neeley, age 86, went to be with the Lord on Monday July 26, 2021, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born June 4, 1935, to the late Omar Lee Neeley and Edna Deel Neeley Shortridge, in Murphy, Buchanan County, Virginia. He was a graduate of Grundy High School and National Business College, with an education in Business and Accounting.
Robert worked as a Certified Public Accountant, before joining KVAT Food Stores as Chief Financial Officer, and later, Senior Vice President of Administration. He dearly loved his family and his Lord; he was a faithful member of First Christian Church of Abingdon. In addition to his work, Robert loved his Food City family and baseball, especially the Cincinnati Reds.
Robert is survived by his sons, William L. and wife Carol, and Samuel R. and wife Rhonda; four grandchildren, Mary Beth Fuller and husband Michael, Ronald Neeley, Katie Millard and husband Adam, and Rebecca Brumfield and husband Tyler; and great-granddaughter, Cora Lynn.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 31, 2021, at First Christian Church of Abingdon (185 Old Jonesboro Rd, Abingdon, VA 24210), with Ministers William Neeley and Tom Crise officiating, and music provided by Anthony Mangrum. A committal service will follow in the Colonial Chapel Mausoleum of Forest Hills Memory Gardens (19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA 24210). Ronald Neeley, Steve Smith, Greg Sparks, Paul Cox, Drew Hembree, Derek Webb, Mark Blevins, and David Osborne will serve as pallbearers.
