Robert Monroe Moad

Robert Monroe "Bob" Moad, 63, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at his home in Mount Solon, VA. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on February 25, 1946. He was the son of the late Paul L. Moad and Mae Castle Moad.

Bob was employed with Lawson Products, Inc. in the Shenadoah Valley of Virginia and enjoyed fishing in his younger years. He was a Civil War enthusiast. Bob was a 1964 graduate from Virginia High School and received his Bachelors Degree in 1968 from Virginia Commonwealth University and his Masters Degree in 1974 from James Madison University. He taught at Harrisonburg High School and was also assistant principal at Massanutten Vo-Tech Center for several years. He attended the Sangerville United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his son, David Moad and his granddaughter, Brandi Moad, both of Bridgewater, VA; his sister, Paula Moad of Emory, VA; his aunts, Elizabeth Vickers of Gibsonville, NC; Maria Moad of Melbourne, FL; June Moad of Jacksonville, FL and Mary Castle of Taylors, SC; and a special friend, Bonnie Woodson.

The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with the Reverend Scott Price officiating.
The committal service will be conducted Sunday, February 21, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. in the Mountain View United Methodist Cemetery, Rt. 75, Abingdon,

Those attending may assemble at the funeral home by 2:10 p.m. for the procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Andy Hunt, Wayne King, Shane McBride, Don Williams, Mike Maiden and Steve Creasy. Honorary pallbearers will be Gifford Cook, Billy Bucker, George Williams, David Miller, Joe Tunnell, Jimmy Hartsoe, Jimmy Cross, Troy Elkins, Dalton Cross and Steven Tolbert.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the Farris Funeral Home.
