Ronald "Ron" Rose

Ronald “Ron” Rose, 72, of Abingdon, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, in Abingdon, Virginia.

Ron was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend who found great joy in helping the people he loved. Whether through a helping hand, a thoughtful gesture, or simply finding a way to be there when he was needed, Ron had a way of making the people in his life feel loved and looked after.

He was a devoted husband to his wife, Donna, whom he cared for with extraordinary love and dedication. His love for her was evident in the way he showed up for her, day after day.

He was also a loving and devoted father to his daughter, Katie. He always found ways to be there for her. Whether it was helping her get her classroom together, fixing the car, or simply making sure she was taken care of, Ron made sure his daughter knew she was loved.

Ron loved to sing, and his love of music was one of the many things that brought him joy. He also had a special place in his heart for the children at church and was known for bringing snacks for them.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Mae Rose, and his beloved wife, Donna, three brothers Lee Rose, Willie Rose, and Bernie Rose, and sister Wilma Greer.

He is survived by his daughter, Katie; one brother, Palmer Rose; two sisters, Joyce Rose, Pearl Blackstone (Donald); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ron will be remembered most of all as a man of God, a loving husband, and a wonderful dad. He was a man who cared deeply for those around him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 21, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. following the service with Mike Wright officiating. Burial will take place at Forest Hills Memory Gardens following the service.
