Rosalie Fratto, age 90, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, after a long battle with dementia. Born in Erie, Pennsylvania, Rosalie later moved with her family to California. As the youngest of five siblings, she was always known as the loving caretaker of those around her, offering kindness, patience, and a helping hand to anyone in need.
Her love for art and adventure carried her across many states and countries, collecting stories she was always eager to share. This passion for travel and new experiences eventually brought her to Abingdon, Virginia, in 1999, where she followed her older sister, Anne, and her family to the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Rosalie’s love of art took many forms throughout her life, but she will be most fondly remembered for her beautiful stained-glass creations, which she lovingly made and shared with cherished friends and family.
Deeply devoted to her faith, Rosalie was a parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church in Abingdon, where her love of both art and God is reflected in the beautiful stained-glass windows she helped create for the church. She will be remembered for her patience and kindness, her willingness to help those in need, her love of music that so often filled her home, and her warm smile that brought comfort to those around her.
Most of all, Rosalie will be remembered for her deep love of family and friends. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, in whom the very best parts of Rosalie live on. Her love of fine art, music, and faith will continue to reside in the hearts of her cherished family. Her deep commitment to God will be remembered with each new day as sunlight pours through the stained-glass windows at Christ the King Catholic Church—a lasting reminder of God’s love for all, especially those who are suffering and in need.
Rosalie is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Mass of the Resurection will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church. Service dates will be announced soon.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at American House in Bristol, and especially to the compassionate nurses who lovingly cared for Rosalie during her final years.
