Ruby Alice Lyall Bartley

Abingdon, VA - Ruby Alice Lyall Bartley, age 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at her home. Ruby was born March 7, 1932 to the late Ruey and Virginia Elizabeth Shearl Lyall and raised in Dickenson County, VA.
During her lifetime, Ruby worked a variety of occupations. She and her husband owned a small grocery store on Big Ridge, VA, helped build credit card machines, worked in a print shop, worked as a waitress, delivered parts for her son, Jerry’s Auto shop, and maintained a loving home. She loved her family and friends. She loved to grow plants. One of her favorite things was to cook and can beets and pepper sauce to share with everyone, including her doctors. She always tried to make those who visited feel at home.
She is survived by her daughter Geneva Bartley Redder-McKinney, Abingdon, VA; and three sons Benford Ray Bartley and wife Becky, Spotsylvania, VA ; Tommy Lee Bartley and wife Marilyn, Fredericksburg, VA; and Jerry Bartley and wife Sandy, Woodbridge, VA. Grandchildren Brent (Elizabeth) Redder; Candice Redder Wilfong and fiancé John Lane; Robert Bartley; Eric Bartley; Ben Warren (Tracy) Bartley; Zach Bartley; Casey Bartley; Jacquelin (Matt) Bartley Edelen; Jason Bartley; Matthew (Renee) Bartley, and Rachel Bartley Aponte; Eleven Great-Grandchildren; one great-great grandson; Sisters Opal Simpson and Mildred Stanley; and nephew Mike Lyall who she thought of as a son.
Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2021, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main Street, Abingdon, VA, 24210. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Bishop Andy Nowicki officiating. Interment will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. COVID-19 guidelines are to be observed.
