Sally Elizabeth Rhudy, age 72, entered into eternal life with Christ on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Johnson City Medical Center. She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va. and worked at Emory & Henry College before her retirement. She was of the Holiness Faith and attended Beulah Baptist Church.
In her spare time, Sally enjoyed sight-seeing and taking pictures. She also loved to read and enjoyed family gatherings and cookouts. She was an avid fan of Blue Grass Music. Her family remembers her as loving, peaceful, kind, passionate about life and was the world to many of them.
Sally was predeceased by her parents James Walter and Helen Louise Heath Phillips; husbands Earl Fred Densmore and Burley Leon Rhudy.
She is survived by her son James Edward “Eddie” Stout and wife Kay of Bristol, Tenn.; daughter Barbara Joe-Ann Bott and husband Allen of Abingdon; brother James Walter Phillips, Jr. and wife Lillian of Blountville, Tenn.; sister Mary Louise “Helen” Holden and husband Bill of Hampton, Tenn.; grandchildren Christina Bott of the home, Brittany Harris (Shawn) of Damascus, Scott Thurston of Bristol, Tenn., Courtney Dougherty (Todd) of Bristol, Tenn. and Nickie Mann (Chad) of Glade Spring; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from noon – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will follow in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Clevie Bell and Pastor Jimmy Phillips. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Richard Waring, Jack Rhudy, Frankie Phillips, Scott Thurston, Curt Scott, Shawn Harris, Travis Norris, Ben Lamie, Bill Roark, Chuck Debatos and Jason Holden will serve as casket bearers.
COVID-19 guidelines will be followed to include wearing of masks, social distancing and adhering to occupancy guidelines.
