Sarah Elizabeth Brinkley

April 14, 1950 — May 8, 2026

Abingdon, VA

Sarah Elizabeth Brinkley, a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, in Abingdon, Virginia. Born on April 14, 1950, in Washington County, Virginia, Sarah's life was marked by compassion, hard work, and a steadfast commitment to both her family and her community.

A graduate of John Battle High School, Sarah pursued a meaningful career as a CNA for many years. Her dedication to caregiving reflected her generous spirit and deep concern for the well-being of others. Beyond her professional life, Sarah nurtured her love for the land as the owner of a farm in the Greendale community, where she found joy and fulfillment in working with the earth and nurturing life.

Sarah's journey also included fourteen years spent living in Florida, a chapter that enriched her experiences and broadened her horizons before returning to her beloved Virginia roots.

Her family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her brothers, Lonnie Lee Miller and James Edward Miller, along with his wife Sandra, who stood by her side through many seasons. She also leaves behind her brother-in-law Ronald Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, whose presence brought warmth and continued connections to those dear to Sarah.

Sarah’s passing is keenly felt alongside the memory of those she loved and preceded her in death: her devoted parents, Guy Edward Miller and Jessie Lee Love Miller; her beloved husband, Larry Brinkley; and her sisters, Elsie Marie Anderson and Betty Ruth Hefner. She also is remembered with affection for her sister-in-law Linda Miller and brother-in-law John Hefner.

At Sarah’s request, she will be interred beside her husband in Knollkreg Memorial Park without ceremony.
