Shirley Ann Blaylock

Feb 23, 1934 — Jun 18, 2026

Shirley Blaylock, age 92, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born on February 23, 1934, and lived a life devoted to her family, faith, and the many children whose lives she touched. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose kindness and nurturing spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Eugene Phipps; her beloved husband, Guy Blaylock; two stepsons, Junior Blaylock and Lynn Blaylock; and one grandchild, Derika.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Jan Jones and husband Tim, Libby Fuller and husband Wesley, and Teresa Musket and husband Terry; her son, Ron Wilson; her stepdaughter, Marie; and her stepson, Michael Blaylock and wife Vickie.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Keeley Shults, Tekishia Blaylock, Jessica Wilson, Daryl Stevens, Joshua Blaylock, Ryan Hedquist, Nathaniel Blaylock, James Fields, Grace Musket, Brandon Fields, Anna Musket, Eva Musket, Dylan Carroll, Austin Carroll, Will Musket, Mina Blaylock, Katelyn Busby, Benjamin Blaylock, and Taka Wilson, along with several beloved great-grandchildren.

For 13 years, Shirley worked at Tri-Cities Christian School, where she became affectionately known as “Mom” Blaylock rather than Mrs. Blaylock. She had a remarkable gift for making every child feel loved, valued, and cared for as if they were her own. Many students carried her influence with them long after leaving school, remembering her as a second mother who always had a kind word, a listening ear, and a warm smile.

One of Shirley’s greatest joys was sharing stories of her years driving the school bus for Tri-Cities Christian School. She loved reminiscing about the countless bus trips for ballgames, band competitions, tournaments, and field trips, and she delighted in retelling the memories and adventures she experienced along the way.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of The Waters of Bristol for the exceptional love, compassion, and care they provided. Their kindness brightened Shirley’s days and brought comfort to both her and her family. The family also wishes to thank Gentiva Hospice for their guidance, support, and compassionate care during Shirley’s final days.

Services will be held at Farris Funeral Service in Abingdon, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service.

Though Shirley has left her earthly home, the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
