Shirley Janet Rector Haer

Bristol, VA – Shirley Janet Rector Haer, age 80, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 7, 2024.  She was born May 27, 1943, in Norfolk, VA to the late Carl and Elsie Parsons Rector.  She was a graduate of Patrick Henry High School and Radford University.  Jane taught English for many years in Virginia Beach, Marion, Roanoke, and Marietta, GA.   She was strong in her faith and was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church.  

In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Timothy Haer, and sister, Susan Rector Lester.  She is survived by her brother, Jim Rector and his wife Ann; three sisters, Becky Johnson, Joann Denton, and Linda Rector.  She is also survived by nephews Jamey Rector and wife Lauren, Jeff Johnson and wife Kim, and David Haer; niece, Lisa Clausen and husband Bill; grandnephew, Liam Johnson and grandnieces, Anna Clausen and Cece Johnson.  Also left to cherish her memory are many cousins and friends.  

A graveside memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Rev. Dr. Tom Day officiating.
