Stephen McCaig Hudson

Stephen McCaig Hudson, age 77, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Bristol Regional Medical Center.

Stephen was a well-known kayaker, a biker, a hiker, a camper and a good friend to all who knew him.

Stephen grew up in Latin America and spoke Spanish fluently. He was taught by a good friend, Charlie Vance, how to speak English. He considered Gip and Murial Vance to be his mentors, who lived behind his grandparents when he came to stay in Abingdon.

Stephen attended military school at Chamberlin Hunt Academy in Port Gibson, Mississippi. He had a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Photography from Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California.

He served in the United States Navy on the ship The Shangri-La during the Vietnam war. He was a military veteran.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
