Steward Bradley Copenhaver, Jr.

Steward Bradley “June” Copenhaver, Jr., of Meadowview, Virginia, died at age 93 on Saturday, February 7, 2026, in Bristol. He was born August 16, 1932, in Meadowview, his lifelong home.

June was a lifelong farmer and a steady presence in the Lodi community of Meadowview. Alongside his brother, Ernest, he founded Copenhaver Brothers Farms, Inc., and devoted most of his working life to raising burley tobacco and beef cattle, carrying forward the values of hard work, responsibility, and stewardship of the land. Those who knew him best will remember his quiet strength and dependability, and his deep attachment to Southwest Virginia.

A lifelong member of Rock Spring Presbyterian Church in Lodi, June’s faith and community ties were constants throughout his life. Over the decades, he also became a mentor to generations of young people. Hundreds of local youth worked for him on the farm and carried forward what he taught them for the rest of their lives.

June was also known for his love for and prowess in the game of Rook, and he took pride in the several championships he won over the years with his partner, Jack Arrington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Steward Bradley Copenhaver, Sr., and Goldie Mae Neese Copenhaver; and by his siblings Ernest Copenhaver (Alberta) and Eleanor Louise “Tiny” Copenhaver Gray (Johnny). He is survived by his sister, Eula Roe (Roy, deceased); his uncle, Bernard Neese; as well as several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, and several Neese and Copenhaver cousins.

Visitation with the family will be held 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 9, 2026, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Scott Sikes officiating. Interment will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park with nephews, great nephews, and Fred Thomas serving as pallbearers.
