Glade Spring, VA — Tamera “Tammy” Kay Jenkins, 63, passed away at her home on Thursday, January 29, 2026. Her gentle spirit, compassion, and unwavering love touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
For over 20 years, Tammy devoted herself to caring for others as a psychiatric aide at Southwestern Virginia Mental Health Institute.
Born to the late Elmer Layden Farris and Clara Lovetta Greer, Tammy is survived by her devoted husband of 46 years, John G. Jenkins; her three sons, Scott Jenkins Harrell and husband Jeremy of Raleigh, NC, Brian Jenkins of Clinchburg, VA, and Aaron Jenkins of Glade Spring; her sister, Laura Lynn Farris; and her aunt, Carolyn Fulcher Hicks, both of Glade Spring.
She took immense joy in her family, especially her grandchildren—Landon, Michael, Carter, and Clarabeth Jenkins—and her great-granddaughter, Novalee Roark. She is also lovingly remembered by her niece, Beth Farris, and great-nieces Haevyn and Sydney McAllister of Johnson City, TN.
Funeral services and interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Chapel at Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring, with Pastor Jeff Wallace officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service in Abingdon, VA.
