Thomas Preston Ryburn

Abingdon, VA - Thomas Preston Ryburn, passed away on August 21, 2023, at American House in Bristol, TN. He was born on July 7, 1934, in Meadowview, VA, to William Thomas Ryburn and Margaret Katherine Preston Ryburn. Tom was a graduate of Liberty High School and went on to have a successful career with Columbus-McKinnon Corp., where he worked diligently until his retirement. He was a member of Rock Spring Presbyterian Church, enjoyed farming, and loved to travel with his wife in earlier years.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his late sisters Bess Ryburn and Emily Reed, along with his late brother William Samuel Ryburn Sr. 

Tom is survived by his loving wife  Dorothy Honaker Ryburn of 47 joyful years; sister,  Katherine Minton; nephews, James William Reed, David Reed, Lee Reed, and Sam Ryburn Jr.; and sister-in-law, Laura Ryburn.

To honor the memory of Thomas Preston Ryburn,  a visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 24, 2023, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Scott Sikes officiating.  Both the visitation and graveside service will be conducted in the Knollkreg Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rock Spring Presbyterian Church, c/o Liz Lester, 16020 McGhee Lane, Meadowview, VA 24361, in Mr. Ryburn’s name.
