Vayard Earl Harrison

Vayard Earl Harrison, age 82, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 19, 2026. He was born on August 7, 1944 to his parents, Earl and Ellen Harrison.

Vayard was a Christian and a supporter of In Touch Ministries. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and farmer. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, including his special friend, Dennis Sanders. After retiring from VDOT, Vayard enjoyed working with his family in home building.

Vayard is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Melinda (Linda) F. Wright Harrison; son, Randall (Randy) S. Harrison and wife, Rebecca W. Harrison; daughter, Rebecca (Becky) L. Harrison; grandsons, Ethan W. Reynolds and Conner M. Harrison and wife, Brianna Harrison; granddaughter, Makayla D. Harrison; great-grandsons, Carson and Lane; and great-granddaughter, Lyric. Vayard was preceded in death by his siblings, Opal Harrison, Ray Edwards, and Harold Edwards.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, with a service to follow at 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to arrive by 10:45 a.m.
