Yvonne Pratt

Yvonne Rose Pratt, age 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.  She was born on January 4, 1940, in her childhood home located in McRoberts, KY to the late Elbert and Ethel Belcher Rose.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by each of her brothers: Billy, Harold, Buford and Bobby and each of her sisters: Patsy Yonts, Judy Bowen, and Wanda Pratt.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Mark Ernest Pratt.

She is survived by her children: Mark E. Pratt Jr and wife Kaye; Mary Yvonne Owens and husband Michael; Bobby Lee Pratt; and James Paul Pratt.  Grandchildren:  Crystal Pratt, LeighAnna Owens, Luke Pratt, Paul Pratt, and Jacob Pratt. Great grandchildren: Kalie Orr, Jordan Pratt, Kinley Pratt, and Grayson Thomas.  She is also survived by in-laws: Bill Pratt, Sharon Meade, and Katherine Pratt and Russell Leasburg who is loved as a son.

Mark and Yvonne Pratt raised their family in Miami, FL until they settled in the Brumley Gap community of Abingdon, VA in 1981.  Their home was the gathering place and the heartbeat of our family.  She was a devoted Christian who loved to sing praises unto the Lord, many of the songs written by herself.  It was a guarantee that she was praying for everyone she knew, those she hadn’t met yet, and always for our schools, nation and military.  She wanted to be remembered for one thing in particular: “I Tried”.  She gave her best in a life well lived by her modesty, humbleness and unwavering love.
