In loving memory of Zettie Marie Smith, 93, who peacefully passed away in Bristol, Virginia on April 29, 2024.
 
Zettie was born on March 12, 1931, in Surry County, North Carolina to the late Johnny Wayne Draughn and Elizabeth Christine Gammons Draughn, whose love shaped her into the remarkable woman she became. Throughout her life, she exemplified kindness and warmth, always ensuring those around her felt welcomed and at ease.
 
She found joy in simple pleasures such as cooking delectable meals and tending to her vibrant garden. Shopping at Belk brought Zettie great joy. She was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church. Zettie's melodious voice graced the Antioch Church Choir for many years, spreading harmony and solace through her gift of music.
 
In addition to her parents, Zettie was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Carl Vester Smith; brothers-in-law, Carlis Edwards, Rawdon Leftwich, Lloyd Goad, Glenn Smith, Lawrence Joyce; sisters-in-law, Frances Draughn, Linda Draughn, Maxie Smith, Ruby Goad, Mary Smith, Frances Joyce; brothers, Clifford Draughn, Roger Draughn, Walter Ray Draughn, infant brother Arnold Gray Draughn, Wayne Draughn; sisters Francis Leftwich, Jackie Shinault and Mary Lou Hall.
 
Zettie will be dearly missed by her loving sons Mickey Smith (Jo Zimmerman), Rick Smith, and Mark Smith. She also leaves behind her granddaughters Alicia Kestner (Jeff) and Ashley Stiltner (Danielle), along with her great-grandchildren Caleb Boyd, Landon Boyd, Jaden Stiltner, and Kaylee Stiltner who brought immense happiness into her life.
 
Zettie is survived by her sister Juanita Edwards and brothers-in-law Marvin Smith, Dean Hall, James Shinault, as well as sisters-in-law Linda Nelson (Dewey), Norma Draughn, and Shelby Draughn. Together with a host of extended family members and friends who were touched by her grace.
 
A visitation in honor of Zettie's life will take place on May 2, 2024 at Farris Funeral Service – Main Street Chapel in Abingdon from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. The funeral service will commence at the same location at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Brad Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
 
Zettie's legacy of kindness and love will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace as her spirit continues to shine brightly in the hearts of those she leaves behind. The family would to extend a special thanks to Oakmont at Gordon Park for their kindness, love and care.
 
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to Antioch Baptist church, 190 Salem Drive, Bristol, Virginia 24201 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis Tennessee 38105.
